What is new in RHEL 7.0 beta

Redhat Linux LogoRedhat Enterprise Linux released a beta version of 7.0 in the last month of 2013, and then GA release is usually in 4-6 months, which should be around May, 2014. So what’s the major changes in this major release?
Here is a summary list from system admin view,

  • Kernel 3.10 and Grub 2
  • Default MTA changed from Sendmail to Postfix
  • MariaDB has replaced MySQL, and the default version in RHEL-7.0 is 5.5
  • Default file system is now XFS, which replaces the ext4 used by default in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
