How to install RethinkDB on Ubuntu/Debian?

How can we install rethinkDB on Debian or Ubuntu? There are basically two ways for this task.

Install RethinkDB with PPA ( Only works for Ubuntu/Debian)

This way works for Ubuntu and related systems , since the precompiled binary by PPA are mainly for this platform. I am running Debian 7 (wheezy). Firstly, Add the RethinkDB PPA, then you can install rethinkdb as this,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rethinkdb/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rethinkdb

Default configuration file for rethinkDB is /etc/rethinkdb/instances.d/default.conf, you can create one as this,

sudo cp /etc/rethinkdb/default.conf.sample /etc/rethinkdb/instances.d/default.conf

Compile from source code
Install the dependencies,

sudo apt-get install git g++ protobuf-compiler libprotobuf-dev libv8-dev lib64ncurses5-dev libgoogle-perftools-dev libboost-dev curl

Get the source code

git clone --depth 1 -b v1.11.3 https://github.com/rethinkdb/rethinkdb.git

Build RethinkDB

cd rethinkdb
./configure --fetch npm
make
