How to install latest Docker on Debian Wheezy?

The installation is pretty easy on Ubuntu but can be a little bit tricky on Debian 7. Here is the quickest way to install the latest docker on Debian 7 Wheezy.

wget http://get.docker.io/builds/Linux/x86_64/docker-latest -O /usr/bin/docker
curl -o /etc/init.d/docker https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dotcloud/docker/master/contrib/init/sysvinit-debian/docker
chmod +x /usr/bin/docker /etc/init.d/docker
addgroup docker
update-rc.d -f docker defaults
cat << EOF > /etc/default/docker
DOCKER_OPTS="-H 127.0.0.1:4243 -H unix:///var/run/docker.sock"
EOF
service docker restart

Now run:

docker version

And you should see:

root@deb:~# docker version
Client version: 1.1.2
Client API version: 1.13
Go version (client): go1.2.1
Git commit (client): d84a070
Server version: 1.1.2
Server API version: 1.13
Go version (server): go1.2.1
Git commit (server): d84a07
